Anna-Kaisa
Liedes (born in 1962 in Haukipudas) became charmed by
kantele music already as a child; she was at the time
making music amongst others with Ilona Porma´s Kantele
Girls and the song group Canterinas. Anna-Kaisa´s
professional music studies began at the department of
music education at Sibelius Academy in 1982; however, the
following year she became a student at the newly-established
department of folk music. During her student years Anna-Kaisa
played kantele and sang in Niekku ensemble and assisted
the professional folk music ensemble Tallari. Anna-Kaisa
got the masters in kantele and singing in 1989. At the
moment, Anna-Kaisa is preparing her artistic doctoral
studies on the possibilities of the human voice. Apart
from traditional folk music Anna-Kaisa has been absorbed
in expressing one´s inner feelings by vocal improvisation.
Different vocal compositions, born out of these
experiments, Anna-Kaisa has realized together with Heikki
Laitinen and Maria Kalaniemi and as a duo with the
percussionist Petri Korpela, to name just a few; Anna-Kaisa´s
